Frequently Asked Questions
Everything about exploring in 360°, backing expeditions, GO THERE Deals, rewards, partnerships and how You Are Here 360 works.
What exactly is this?
What is You Are Here 360?
You Are Here 360 is an immersive destination project built to make places feel less like something you're watching and more like somewhere you've stepped into. We capture destinations in 360° so you can look around, explore and decide where you want to go next.
Is this a travel blog?
Not really. We are building a library of immersive destination experiences. The goal isn't to tell you every restaurant we ate at or make you watch someone talk into a camera for twenty minutes. The place is the main character.
What makes this different from a normal travel video?
Traditional video decides where you look. 360° gives that choice back to you. Turn toward the ocean, look behind you, study the street or simply stay still and take in the atmosphere.
Are the destination experiences free to watch?
Our core destination experiences are designed to be accessible without turning every view into a paywall. Some backer perks, private premieres or special releases may have early or limited access.
Take yourself somewhere.
Do I need a VR headset?
No. You can explore on a phone, tablet or computer by dragging or moving the view. A compatible VR headset gives you the most immersive version because you can naturally look around the scene.
What is TAKE ME THERE?
TAKE ME THERE is our mood-first way of exploring. Instead of starting with a map, choose how you want to feel: Peaceful, Away From Everything, Somewhere Alive, Let's Explore or Surprise Me. We'll take it from there.
Why are some experiences stationary and others moving?
Because movement isn't automatically better. Some places are strongest when you can simply stand there and absorb them. Others make sense as a walk, trail, street or journey. We choose the format that serves the place.
Can I suggest somewhere you should film?
Absolutely—but rather than dropping destinations into a suggestion box, visit Where Should We Go Next?. You can see expeditions we're considering and help back the places you'd most like us to capture.
Help decide where we go next.
What does “Back This Expedition” mean?
You're helping fund a specific You Are Here 360 production expedition. Your backing helps make that destination possible and, depending on your tier, may include expedition-specific perks and experiences.
Is backing an expedition a donation?
No. We call it backing an expedition. Eligible backing tiers include defined perks connected to that expedition. The campaign page shows what is included before checkout.
What does my backing pay for?
Expedition funds can cover transportation, premium accommodations, local transportation, destination access and experiences, production costs, media storage, post-production, backer rewards and the flexibility needed to properly capture the destination.
Why aren't the expeditions ultra-budget trips?
Because the goal isn't to reach a destination as cheaply as humanly possible. Expeditions are designed around comfort, flexibility and enough time to actually experience a place before capturing it. We're not interested in racing through twelve locations exhausted just to say we went there. We go there. We experience it. Then we take you there.
What happens when an expedition reaches 100%?
The expedition is funded. We move into scheduling, travel and production planning, then keep eligible backers updated as dates and milestones are confirmed.
Can an expedition receive more than 100% backing?
Yes. Additional backing can support expanded coverage, additional experiences, production improvements, reward fulfillment or published stretch goals. The campaign should explain any specific unlocks when they apply.
Can I back more than one expedition?
Yes. Eligible expeditions backed with the same account/email can appear together in your Explorer Backer Dashboard.
Are expedition dates guaranteed?
No. Travel, weather, access, safety, transportation and destination conditions can change. We would rather adjust a production date than force an expedition under conditions that compromise the experience or the work.
What if an expedition is delayed or cannot happen?
If circumstances materially change an expedition, we'll communicate the status and applicable next steps to affected backers. Any cancellation, refund or replacement options are governed by the terms shown for that campaign and checkout at the time of backing.
Don't just watch it. Go there.
What is a GO THERE Deal?
A GO THERE Deal is an opportunity to experience something featured around a destination for yourself. Participating businesses can offer a special experience that activates when enough people commit.
Why does a deal need a minimum number of people?
The group threshold is what can make a stronger price or special experience practical for the partner. Your commitment helps move the deal toward its unlock point.
What happens if the deal doesn't unlock?
The specific deal page and checkout terms control the transaction. Our model is designed around an authorize/commit-first structure so customers aren't left paying for an experience that never reaches its required threshold.
Can I share a deal to help unlock it?
Yes. That's exactly why every GO THERE Deal can include Share This Deal. If you're already committed, bringing other explorers in can help everyone reach the threshold faster.
Who actually provides the experience?
You Are Here 360 helps connect explorers with participating businesses. The actual experience is provided by the listed operator, attraction, restaurant, tour company or other partner. Provider-specific rules, availability and requirements may apply.
Your expeditions. Your perks.
Who gets access to the Explorer Backer Dashboard?
Dashboard access begins at the Trailblazer tier and above after the qualifying expedition payment has cleared.
When do I get my account?
After an eligible Trailblazer-or-higher backing payment clears, you'll receive an invitation to create or access your Explorer Backer account.
What can I see in my dashboard?
Your backed expeditions, personal backing totals, campaign progress, eligible premiere information, earned rewards and fulfillment status can all live in one place.
What if I back several expeditions?
Use the same email/account and eligible expeditions can be consolidated into the same dashboard instead of creating a separate account for every trip.
How do private premieres and watch parties work?
When included with your tier, eligible backers receive access details before the public release. Premiere plans can include a shared watch party and post-premiere Q&A depending on the expedition.
Build something with us.
How can my business work with You Are Here 360?
Start with our Partner With Us funnel. Choose Sponsor a Destination, GO THERE Deal Partner, Tourism Board Partnership, 360° Production, Local Business Partner or Footage Licensing and you'll get an inquiry form tailored to that opportunity.
Can our organization sponsor a destination?
Yes. Destination sponsorship can help support a specific production expedition while giving the sponsor clearly disclosed recognition. Sponsorship does not buy editorial control or guaranteed positive coverage.
Can a tourism board partner with you?
Yes. Tourism boards and destination organizations can inquire about multi-location 360 collections, regional campaigns, expedition support and destination integrations.
Can you produce a 360° experience for our business?
Yes. Hotels, resorts, attractions, venues, museums, marinas, tours and other businesses can inquire about dedicated immersive production through the 360° Production path.
How does my business offer a GO THERE Deal?
Choose GO THERE Deal Partner in the Partner With Us funnel. We'll ask about the experience, normal price, proposed deal price, minimum buyers, capacity and redemption window before reviewing whether it fits the platform.
Can I license You Are Here 360 footage?
Potentially. Use the Footage Licensing inquiry and tell us the intended usage, territory, duration, media, deadline and project details so we can evaluate licensing and pricing.
Respect the place. Respect the people.
Do you film people in public places?
360° cameras capture the environment around them, so people may sometimes appear incidentally in public destination footage. We aim to film responsibly and follow applicable location rules and requirements.
Do you obtain permission when required?
Yes. When a location, activity, property, production arrangement or applicable rule requires authorization, we handle the relevant permission rather than treating every location the same.
Are all destinations physically accessible?
No. Accessibility varies enormously by destination. Where reliable information is available, we want to surface useful accessibility context so explorers can make informed decisions about visiting.
Are these videos supposed to replace actually visiting?
No. Quite the opposite. You Are Here 360 is meant to make you want to close the laptop, pack a bag and experience these places for yourself. And when getting there isn't possible, we still want to bring as much of the experience to you as we can.
That's impressive. We literally made a page of answers.
